How Boring Journal Uses AI

Daily Mirror uses the completed journal entry connected to that Mirror. It may use the structured fields and the narrative contained in that completed entry.

It does not use:

• unfinished drafts
• unrelated journal entries
• another user's information
• Professional private notes

The result is an AI-assisted reflection of what you wrote. It is not advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Chapter AI features use the entries that belong to the relevant Chapter and, where applicable, the Goal wording that applied when each entry was written. They may point out recurring themes or connections across those entries.

Which entries are used is decided by Boring Journal on the server. AI cannot freely search your wider history outside that set.

Insights & Patterns is a Professional-facing feature. It uses only completed entries that a client has actively shared with that Professional and that are still shared with that connection.

It does not use:

• unfinished drafts
• unshared entries
• Daily Mirrors
• Chapters as evidence
• private Professional notes
• Follow up status
• another client's information

Its purpose is to point out a possible recurring pattern across shared material. An Insight is not a diagnosis or a permanent label.

If a client unshares an entry that an Insight relied on, the affected Insight is no longer shown and is handled according to our privacy rules.

Session Preparation is available to eligible Professional accounts.

The first preparation is based on the original shared entries behind the first valid Insight. After that, each preparation focuses on completed entries newly shared since the previous successful preparation, using up to the most recent 24. If only a few new entries exist, the preparation may be shorter.

It does not use:

• unshared entries

• private Professional notes
• Follow up status
• AI-generated Insight text as evidence
• another client's information

Its purpose is to help the Professional review what the client has recently shared before a session. It is not a treatment plan or a clinical recommendation.

• AI-generated material may be incomplete or wrong.
• It may misunderstand context or miss something important.
• Professionals remain responsible for their own judgement.
• Boring Journal's AI does not diagnose psychological or medical conditions.
• It does not decide treatment, or whether someone is suitable for therapy or another service.
• It does not make legal or similarly significant automated decisions about you.

Connecting with a Professional does not give them access to your full journal.

Boring Journal uses AI infrastructure accessed through Lovable's AI Gateway. The current AI features use models supplied by providers including OpenAI. The providers and models used may change over time.

When an AI feature is used, the information that feature needs is sent through the AI infrastructure so the result can be generated.

The AI infrastructure and providers may temporarily keep limited request, response or operational information for purposes such as security, abuse prevention, reliability and running the service.

Boring Journal's own records of Insight and Session Preparation runs are designed to keep operational details such as status, model, prompt version, token usage, processing time and error codes — not full copies of journal entries.

Journal entries can contain personal and sensitive information, because you decide what to write. When you use an AI feature, the relevant information may be processed to provide it. This page covers AI processing only; the Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled more widely.

Private Professional notes and Follow up status are not used as inputs to Insights & Patterns or Session Preparation.

• Access to AI features is controlled on the server.
• The system decides which material is eligible.
• One user cannot choose another user's journal material as AI input.
• Professional features require an active connection and material that is currently shared.

Generated material is provided as part of the Boring Journal service. Treat it as supportive content, not as authoritative truth.

Deleting your Boring Journal account removes the account and its Boring Journal app data, as described in the Privacy Policy. Logs or backups held by external infrastructure or providers may take additional time to expire under their own retention arrangements.
